By train: the Eurostar goes direct from London St Pancras to Brussels (2 hours). The terminal is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Book trains to Brussels.

The classy black-on-grey colours - dimly lit walls, lacquered doors, thick carpets, velvet-upholstered chairs, shiny-topped bar - give the feeling that this 1920s townhouse is a private members' club.

Staff are discreet but professional and know the area well. The outside terrace is great for people-watching.

The eight minimalist rooms continue the black-on-grey colour scheme in carpets, walls and furniture with striking white contrasts in bedheads and crisp linen. All bathrooms have a bath and a shower.
