Spend two nights at the beautiful Widbrook Grange, a honey-stoned farmhouse on the edge of the Cotswolds

Widbrook Grange sits on the edge of the Cotswolds, not far from the charms of Bradford on Avon. Its farmhouse proportions (there are just 19 guestrooms) make it feel more like a fancy B&B but with all the extras of a hotel, including a top restaurant and an indoor pool.

You'll be welcomed to Widbrook Grange with a welcome drink on the house and shown to a Classic Room for your two-night stay. Carefully considered rustic styling lends character to the individual and cosy rooms.

Before dinner, find the Gin Bar for an aperitif. This cosy enclave boasts one of the best gin collections in the region, with over 165 choices. Your first night includes dinner in The Kitchen Restaurant. You'll settle down to enjoy a three-course seasonal menu where the chef creates elevated versions of classic dishes with ingredients sourced from local growers and suppliers.

The hotel was once a model farm and has a boutique feel. The interiors are dressed in a vintage-industrial style, with exposed brickwork and some humorous touches that play on the building's agricultural heritage. Tools have been upcycled, for example, and appear as lamps or decorative objects.

Staff are friendly though they do not always offer the most proactive service; a stay can sometimes feel like you are in a private home. Massages with Neal's Yard oils, plus facials and other treatments, are available in bedrooms.
