OVERVIEW

Orestone Manor is a charming Georgian country house offering stylish accommodation and an excellent 2 AA rosette restaurant serving locally sourced food. This small hotel on the outskirts of Torquay makes an excellent base for exploring Devon's 'English Riviera' and the surrounding countryside. The hotel has been owned and run by the local D'Allen family for generations and was once the home of famous painter John Callcott Horsley, designer of the first ever Christmas card. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful sub-tropical gardens and many of the rooms and all suites have sea views; some also have private outdoor hot tubs.

BED AND BATH

Each room is decorated in a different style: one is influenced by the chic glamour of Paris, another is inspired by the work of William Morris, whilst the Burlesque room boasts an altogether racier appeal. Most rooms have plenty of space for longer stays and the large bathrooms are tastefully decorated, some with roll-top baths and dual basins.

Room types: Standard, Standard Sea-View, Superior, Deluxe, Suite

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, TV, hairdryer, free Wi-Fi

FOOD AND DRINK

The restaurant serves modern European food, drawing non-residents from across the county and beyond. With Brixham Bay just down the road, it would be a crime not to try one of the fresh fish dishes that are a speciality here. The fixed-price menu is good value for food of this quality.

Restaurant: 2 AA Rosettes, locally-sourced seafood such as Torbay scallops. Closed Tuesdays. Two courses for £25 or three courses for £28.50.
