OVERVIEW

A seaside hotel with quirky, individually designed rooms, some touting a sea view, others overlooking the city. Floor-to-ceiling windows let ample light in as well as insight into Brighton life. They only serve breakfast but it's tasty and the bar offers a good range of cocktails.

OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

You are in the thick of it at this hotel, located minutes from Brighton's bustling beach, famed for seaside walks and in warmer weather, a spot of sun lounging. You can walk to the city's eclectic shops, both boutiques and mainstream, as well as a mix of eateries and bars. The West Pier is moments from the hotel and a stroll along it, fish and chips in hand, is a must.

By car: over 2 hours from London and Oxford, and 3 hours from Bristol. Parking costs £25 per day.

By train: London Victoria and London Bridge to Brighton takes around 1 hour. It's a 7-minute drive (or 15-minute walk) from the station. Book trains to Brighton.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

A lot of thought and years of collecting artefacts, artwork and artisan furniture makes the hotel unique, miles away from a carbon copy-hotel chain-design look. The whiteness of the walls juxtaposed against antiques and unusual decorative items works well, blending old and new, a pleasure to be amongst.

THE FACILITIES

We thought the staff were particularly warm and friendly and happy to recommend places to eat and bars to visit, as well as shops selling specific gifts we wanted to buy. We also found the food recommendations on the website very useful, trying a few of the suggested restaurants.

  • Bar
  • Free Wi-Fi

BED AND BATH

The individually designed rooms feature quirky décor, boasting bright pops of colour from modern paintings, statement pieces of art adorning the walls - often in natural wood- and locally sourced eclectic furniture, all set against crisp white walls and linen. The bathrooms are clean white with chrome furnishings.

Room types: Small Room, Superior Room, Large Room, Luxury Room, Spa Room, King Sutie, Luxury Duplex

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with The White Company toiletries, Illy coffee machine, sitting area, TV, free Wi-Fi

FOOD AND DRINK

The hotel only serves breakfast, so you'll have to venture out for other meals but the small menu is decent, with a cooked full breakfast to lighter avocado on toast. The bar, however, has a diverse offering with tempting cocktails and mocktails and a good wine selection.

Una Bar: intimate bar, comfy seats. Serving bespoke cocktails, wines and premium spirits. Open daily.
