THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Located on Ledbury High Street, there are numerous independent shops to explore and some great walks further afield.

By car: just over an hour from Birmingham, under 2 hours from Oxford and 3 hours from London. Free on-site parking.

By train: London Paddington to Hereford takes under 3 hours. The hotel is a 30-minute taxi ride from the station. Book trains to Hereford.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

Parts of this hotel, originally a coaching inn, date back to 1564 and numerous historic features have been retained, such as original beams, open fires, creaking floorboards and artworks. It's cosy and welcoming, with comfy sofas and armchairs, and quality fabrics provide bright splashes of colour. Outside there are pretty floral baskets and window boxes.

As this is a pub with rooms, there's only the restaurant and bar, with outdoor courtyard seating.

Dogs are allowed everywhere but the restaurant, and are provided with beds, bowls and treats (£10 per dog, per night). At breakfast, your pet is given biscuits and a sausage.
