THE LOOK AND FEEL

The pub and restaurant areas have more character than the guest rooms. There's a small conservatory area and good contemporary art on the walls. The homely bar area has some farming paraphernalia including some differently-coloured tractor seats.

THE FACILITIES

Staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant offers excellent food.

  • Restaurant
  • Bar
  • Terrace
  • Garden
  • Board games
  • Family-friendly
  • Free parking
  • Free Wi-Fi

Up to two dogs are permitted in the lodges at £15 per dog per stay.

BED AND BATH

There are three rooms in the main building itself and lodges in the grounds: studios or larger ones which can accommodate four people if the sofa bed in the lounge area is used.

Room types: Room, Studio Lodge, Hot Tub Studio Lodge, Deluxe Hot Tub Lodge

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, tea and coffee facilities, TV, free Wi-Fi

FOOD AND DRINK

The restaurant serves meals of a very high standard, and is very popular. However, we found there wasn't much choice at breakfast, with the option of either a full English breakfast or smoked salmon with scrambled eggs.

The Baiting House: modern British cuisine, locally sourced ingredients, seasonal menus. Dishes include wild mushroom risotto, belly of pork and cider battered monkfish. Open daily for drinks, breakfast and dinner, Thu-Sun for lunch.
