OUR REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Nestled in the corner of a grassy square that is often the venue for public events, The Montcalm Royal London House lies a mere ten-minute walk from three well-connected stations, with the main one being Liverpool Street. 'Silicon Roundabout' is nearby, as are the banks and businesses of the City, whilst the Barbican Centre and Brick Lane are just a short stroll away. St. Paul's Cathedral and the Museum of London are within easy reach, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge a little further south but still walkable within half an hour.
By car: the hotel is 4 hours from Manchester, 2 hours 30 mins from Birmingham and 7 hours from Glasgow.
By train: Liverpool Street Station is 5 minutes' walk away. Kings Cross and Euston stations are around 15 minutes away in a taxi, Paddington is 30 minutes from the hotel. Book trains to London.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
The Montcalm employs an eclectic blend of styles including Art Deco and mid-century modern that contrast, sometimes confusingly, with the use of bleeding-edge technology and contemporary design. The bars and restaurants are vivacious, loud and proud; the opposite of the guest floors where floor-level lighting casts a subtly atmospheric glow across the eerily dark silk-lined corridors.
THE FACILITIES
This is a luxury establishment that caters for well-heeled corporate and privately wealthy clients, as befits the area which is one of the world's top financial centres. Everything you'd normally expect from a five-star hotel is available as well as some extras such as a private butler available on request.

FOOD AND DRINK
The Long Arm pub tries to recreate the atmosphere of a London pub by serving proper beer and screening football on match days, whilst Burdock is a slicker café-style affair with a more refined offering of casual lunches and cocktails. Aviary is the higher-end choice, having been awarded an AA Rosette, serving breakfast/brunch, lunch and dinner accompanied by great views of the City from the tenth-floor rooftop terrace.
Aviary: AA Rosette, rooftop terrace, modern Brasserie-style menu, cocktails, craft ales. Open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Mains from £16.
