THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Daisybank lies at the heart of the enchanting New Forest. Set back off a busy main road, it's surprisingly peaceful and an easy walk to unspoilt woodland and heathland. It's a ten-minute walk from Brockenhurst, which has trains to London in 90 minutes.

By car: 1 hout 45 minutes from Oxford, 2 hours from London and 3 hours from Birmingham. Free parking on-site.

By train: London Waterloo to Brockenhurst takes 1 hour 30 minutes. It's a 20-minute walk (or 4-minute taxi) to the hotel. Book trains to Brockenhurst.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

Built in 1901, the house is in the Arts and Crafts style with high ceilings and large windows. It's thoughtfully decorated with the feel of a boutique hotel. Every piece of furniture and accessory has been carefully chosen, from the unbelievably comfortable beds to the cushions handmade locally from recycled material.

THE FACILITIES

The attraction here is exploring the forest and getting close to nature, rather than on-site entertainment. Electric-car drivers will be pleased to know charging points are available. The owners, Cheryl and Ciaran Maher, are extremely welcoming and having lived in the house for over 30 years their local knowledge is invaluable.
