By car: around 2 hours from London, and 1 hour from Oxford and 1 hour 30 minutes from Bristol. Free parking on-site.

By train: London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh (via Oxford) takes 1 hour 30 minutes. The hotel is a 15-minute drive from the station. thetrainline.com

THE LOOK AND FEEL

Think homey comfort with a good dash of luxury and style. Furnishings are mainly in tones of silver, grey and blue, with a marginally more formal dining room at the front of the pub and a cleverly converted garage (no surprises that it's called The Garage) offering a laid-back vibe at the back of the building.

THE FACILITIES

Welcoming, chatty yet efficient - the staff are very much part of the charm here. Private dining is on offer and weddings can be held too - civil ceremonies as well as receptions, indoors or outside in the walled garden.
