THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

The hotel is in the village of Ravello, 1,000 feet above sea-level and overlooking the stunning Amalfi Coast and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. The hotel is in a quiet location in a row of historic palazzos, on a small pedestrianised and cobbled street, just five minutes' walk from the central piazza.

By plane: there are direct flights to Naples from London (2 hours 35 miniutes) and Manchester (2 hours 55 minutes). The hotel is one hour's drive from the airport. Books flights to Naples.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

This is a really stylish and luxurious hotel in a historic building. Expect gorgeous details like antique chairs, gilded mirrors, orchids and cosy sofas in the bar. The area and hotel is romantic.

THE FACILITIES

The hotel has everything from room service to an excellent concierge who will arrange transfers, tickets and excursions. There's a 20m outdoor heated pool, a spa, an infinity hydropool on the roof and a small outdoor gym with sea views. The hotel has a private beach club on the coast, around 15 minutes' drive away in Marmorat, with a restaurant and small pool, and free shuttles from the hotel.

BED AND BATH

Most rooms have sea views but some are on the other (mountain) side. Rooms vary - some have balconies and jacuzzi baths, other rooms are smaller or have partial sea views.

FOOD AND DRINK

Rossellinis restaurant has one Michelin star and the food is fantastic. The chef's table (for four guests) is located near the kitchen, and the sommelier's table (two guests) is in the wine cellar. Terrazza Belvedere is perfect for an al fresco lunch with sea views. Breakfast can be served on the outdoor terrace.
