Your expert reviewer
Sitting next to the remains of an early Roman city wall, the hotel is located a couple of minutes from Termini Station meaning you trade transport convenience - trains, buses, metro, taxis - for being in one of Rome's less plush neighbourhoods.
By plane: flights to Rome Leonardo da Vinci from London (2 hours 25 minutes) or Manchester (2 hours 40 minutes). The hotel is a 45-minute drive from the airport. Paid parking available nearby. Book flights to Rome.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
Built in 1881 as a residence, the Palazzo Montemartini has a pale yellow stucco exterior, and one half of the hotel retains a number of original features, while the other half is contemporary and minimal. The interior features both modern and classical Italian design.
The hotel overall looks impressive, for example a large, high-ceilinged restaurant, small contemporary lounge area, bar, spa, small fitness room and rooftop bar.

Located by the lobby, the restaurant, Senses, serves modern Italian classics, while the adjacent cocktail bar and the rooftop bar are good spots for a drink. The restaurant is dominated by majestic green columns and 1970s-style see-through smokey grey plastic chairs. It has a decent breakfast buffet.
