OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

This island resort is a 20-minute water transfer away from the main sites of the city and so isn't for those wanting to be in the centre of things. Instead, it provides a welcome oasis in the summer with its landscaped gardens and rooftop swimming pool.

By plane: flights from London to Venice take 2 hours. Take an airport boat (1 hour 20 minutes) to St Mark's Square and the hotel's shuttle service to the hotel (20 minutes). Book flights to Venice.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

Having started life as a sanatorium in the 19th Century, the interiors remain white and bright but with a clean minimalist contemporary design by Matteo Thun. The vibe on the comfortable loungers of the rooftop pool is one of understated luxury. The fine dining restaurant is all brickwork, glass and steel.

THE FACILITIES

Facilities abound in this hotel, including an enjoyable cookery school where you can learn to make pasta and gnocchi, an exhibition space to see the work of local artists and artisans, a boutique and coffee shop, an outdoor rooftop pool and a spa complex containing hydrotherapy pool, thermal suite and treatment rooms.
