OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

A few canals away from St Mark's Square and La Fenice opera house, and right in the heart of the designer shopping district, this is almost as central as it gets. The hotel's neighbours include Dolce and Gabbana, Armani and Saint Laurent.

By plane: flights to Venice from London take 2 hours. Take an airport boat (1 hour) to reach the hotel, or a water taxi. Book flights to Venice.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The hotel is situated over five floors of the gorgeous early 20th-century stock exchange building, which combines Liberty Style (Italian Art Nouveau) and modernism. The restaurant has the dramatic setting of the circular trading hall, while the library bar contains 4,000 books to sip your aperitif among.

THE FACILITIES

Courteous and warm, some of the staff here were poached from Venetian grande dame the Cipriani. Facilities include a small spa offering beauty treatments by La Colline, a rooftop pool and library bar.
