The hotel is in Ballsbridge, a residential tree-lined district just south of Dublin city centre, and it is beside Herbert Park. Ballsbridge is ten minutes by car, taxi or Dart (commuter) rail, or around 30 minutes' walk from the city centre, and is also on bus routes to the city, including that of the Aircoach from Dublin Airport.
By plane: direct flights to Dublin from Manchester and Birmingham (1 hour), and London (1 hour 15 minutes). It's a 25-minute drive to the hotel. On-site parking costs €12 per day. Book flights to Dublin.
The style of the hotel is quite austere and clinical - there are no artworks on bedroom or hallway walls or design touches. Carpets and curtains are grey and furniture is navy with grey cushions. In contrast, the lobby and lounge area is bright with clean lines, huge windows and fun colourful artwork and colourful flower displays.
Service was good. There aren't too many facilities.

Rooms are basic and comfortable. Colours are dark and corporate - grey carpet and curtains, navy chairs with grey cushions. Beds are large and comfortable and the rooms have a Nespresso machine, bathrobes and flat screen TV. Some have park views.

Food is extremely expensive here and the menu and quality is that of typical hotel food. We did enjoy the views from the restaurant into some of the park (in daylight).
Pavilion Restaurant: formal dining, international cuisine. Dishes include steaks, Irish rack of lamb and duck confit with lentils. Open daily for dinner.
Terrace Lounge: casual lobby dining and bar. Dishes include light bites, salads, pastas and grills. All-day dining, open daily. Mains from €18.50.
