The Townhouse is located in a Georgian area in the south city, very convenient for the city centre. It's around 15 minutes' walk to Grafton Street and 20 minutes' walk to Trinity College. The surrounding area is mostly offices but it is near plenty of cafés, restaurants, pubs and clubs. Traffic is busy in the area during morning and evening rush hours.
By plane: direct flights to Dublin from Manchester and Birmingham (1 hour), and London (1 hour 15 minutes). It's a 30-minute drive to the hotel. On-site parking costs €10 per night. Book flights to Dublin.
The hotel is divided into two buildings - a Georgian townhouse which is decorated in a quirky, eclectic style with a jazz theme, and a modernist mews across the courtyard which was owned by a famous architect in the 1960s and 70s. Rooms in the Georgian house are all individually decorated and have original features like fireplaces (not in use), sash windows and high ceilings. The en-suite bathrooms are very modern.
Service was friendly. The townhouse only has four parking spaces, which are filled on a first-come first-serve basis - there is also on-street parking but rates are high per hour. There is no restaurant but an honesty bar is available in the mews.

Rooms in the main house are compact in size but have high ceilings and a 'jazz' theme with colourful patterns and designs. Each room is decorated differently. The house is old, with creaky floorboards and not great soundproofing between the rooms - but it is full of character.

There is no restaurant here but the breakfast was great, with a very colourful bowl of fruit and yoghurt served without being ordered, cranberry bread and a great menu of hot dishes - all served indoors or in an outdoor conservatory with views of the surrounding buildings.
Breakfast: served in the conservatory or informal dining room, communal tables. Options include homemade granola, freshly baked breads, poached pears, eggs benedict, mushroom frittata and omelettes. Served daily, 7:30-10am.
