Hotel Review: Stauntons on the Green, Dublin
This is a beautiful Georgian townhouse right on St Stephen's Green and a short walk from the south city for shopping, pubs, restaurants and museums. There is a choice of a traditional room at the front of the house with original Georgian features, or a quieter room at the rear which overlooks the small garden.

OUR REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The hotel is on St Stephen's Green, across the road from the park and a few minutes' walk from the shopping and cafés of Grafton Street and the museums of the Georgian area, and it's right beside MoLI - Museum of Literature Ireland. There's a gate from the garden into the Iveagh Gardens park.
By plane: direct flights to Dublin from Manchester and Birmingham (1 hour), and London (1 hour 15 minutes). It's a 30-minute drive to the hotel. Parking costs €22 per day. Book flights to Dublin.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
The old part of the house has a traditional feel - reception rooms and bedrooms in this section have Georgian features such as high ceilings, sash windows, fireplaces and ornate plasterwork. Large windows overlook St Stephen's Green park. There are more modern rooms in a rear wing. There is lots of art all around the walls.
THE FACILITIES
This is a small hotel so service is top-notch and feels personal. There are some lovely outdoor terraces and a small garden to the rear, which is adjacent to the Iveagh Gardens and away from street and traffic noises so it is a little oasis amongst the buzz of the city.

Rooms in the front are in the original Georgian townhouse, and have features like high ceilings, large sash windows, decorative fireplaces and ornate plasterwork. Some rooms overlook St Stephens' Green but are exposed to noise from the busy road. There is a more modern wing at the rear of the hotel and rooms are quieter.

Afternoon tea: served daily (12-4pm) in the libary or garden, weather permitting.
