OUR REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The resort is in a spectacular location, sculpted into the mountainside above Gargnano, a pretty lakefront town with oleander trees and bougainvillea tumbling to the shore. Calm and quiet (immersed in 27 acres of leafy parkland), it feels a world away from the busy lakefront, and the views are simply divine.
By plane: direct flights from London to Verona take over 2 hours. The hotel is a 1 hour 30 minute-drive from the airport. Free on-site parking available. Book flights to Verona.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
Blending in with the natural landscape, the building recalls the tiered citrus orchards that once flourished on the lake's western shore. Constructed entirely using natural materials, the resort is eco-sustainable, producing clean and renewable energy to power the premises. The décor is simple and uncluttered, while the atmosphere is tranquil yet not overly so - you'll find families enjoying the facilities, diners sunning themselves on the terrace and guests in bathrobes nipping off for a treatment.
THE FACILITIES
This is one of Italy's very best spa hotels, with outstanding facilities to match. The leafy parkland is home to a running circuit and an energy and therapeutic garden with five wellness trails. There's a small lounge offering a range of spirits and cigars, while the hotel shop sells beauty products by Lefay's natural cosmetic line along with extra virgin olive oils produced by the resort.
