Hotel Review
Il San Corrado di Noto, Noto, Sicily
The place for upmarket seclusion and relaxation in Sicily's Unesco-listed Val di Noto, this discreet five-star all-suite hotel is isolated among olive and citrus trees. Once a summer getaway for Sicily's nobility, the property is now transformed into a stunning Relais & Châteaux hotel with the island's longest swimming pool. If you want to go further afield, the hotel's courtesy shuttle will transport you to its private beach club. Play a game of tennis, stroll amongst the fruit trees or relax in the spa, or simply while away the hours in your suite's private plunge pool. In the evenings, order a cocktail to your private terrace before sampling tasting menus of international cuisine at Principe di Belludia, or opt for more typical fare in Casa Pasta.

THE REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
This is Sicily's answer to the middle of nowhere - a quiet corner of the Unesco-listed heritage site of Val di Noto, surrounded by acres of olive and citrus groves and a 12-minute drive from Noto. The beach is a little further afield, 20 minutes away.
By plane: direct flights to Catania take 3 hours from London. The hotel is over an hour's drive. Free on-site parking available. skyscanner.com

THE LOOK AND FEEL
Architect Corrado Papa has sensitively married the old with the new while making the place feel entirely modern. Many of the suites line an enormous central square swimming pool, while others look out onto one so long, it's considered to be the longest in the island at 100 metres.

THE FACILITIES
Service is personal and discreet. The hotel has three dogs and is dog-friendly. Aside from the two swimming pools, there are grass tennis courts, a small gym and treatment rooms. The free shuttle service to an exclusive beach makes up for the inland location.
