THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons is in Great Milton, Oxfordshire. Head to the Cotwolds or the Chilterns for a day of walking, or pop to Oxford or Bicester for a spot of shopping.
By car: 1 hour 20 mins from London and Birmingham, 25 minutes from Oxford and 3 hours from Manchester. There is free parking on-site.
By train: Haddenham & Thame Parkway station (10 minutes' drive from Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons) is 45 mins from London Marylebone. Trains also run from London Paddington to Oxford station (25 minutes from the hotel). The journey takes around an hour. Book train tickets.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
Everyone will love it here - foodies, gardeners, families and couples. It isn't cheap, but it is a great treat for an extra special occasion.
THE FACILITIES
The beauty of the gardens is matched by the quality of the artwork inside. See if you can spot Max, an ill-behaved toff who Blanc kicked out of his restaurant. Dogs are allowed in some bedrooms and public rooms; kennels are provided.

All rooms are gorgeous, but Botticelli is exceptional with its spiral staircase leading to a bathroom with two tubs and a gorgeous mural. You can expect exquisite attention to detail here - even the sugar-coated almonds in each room are colour coded.
