OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Set almost at the end of North Indian Canyon Drive, on the edge of town, it's nonetheless less than a half-hour walk to the shops, bars and restaurants of Downtown. The Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains are practically on the doorstep, offering abundant, scenic hiking trails, while the other eight of Greater Palm Springs 'nine cities' are within easy driving distance. If you fancy spending time at some of the hot springs which give the area its name, head to the Azure Palm Hot Spring Day Resort and book a day pass for access to its naturally heated mineral pools.

By plane: flights to Palm Springs take 14 hours from London with a stop in Phoenix, Arizona. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the airport. Free on-site parking. Book flights to Palm Springs.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The overall design is unique, with a distinct vision brought to life by renowned flower muralist Louise Jones. The owners wanted the buildings painted black to make the colours of the flowers stand out, and Jones was given free rein to paint big dramatic blooms. The vibe is relaxed; you can stock your kitchenette with food and drink, hang out in the central clubhouse or chill out by the firepits at night. Adirondack chairs dot the garden area, planted with palm trees and cacti, and hung with lanterns and strings of bulbs.

THE FACILITIES

There's not much in the way of facilities as this is essentially self-catering, but it offers some entertainment; by the pool area is a giant chess set and a game of cornhole. You can toast your own marshmallows over the firepits at night, and there is a fleet of pink bikes you can borrow to go exploring.
