Thailand is a land of diverse attractions, from the bustle of Bangkok to the lush rainforests where gibbons and macaques and where elephants can be spied in the morning mists. Then there are the beaches of course, famous for their pristine white sands framed by spectacular rock formations.

You'll see the different sides of Thailand on our two-week adventure. Starting in Bangkok, you'll stay in a smart five-star hotel in a perfect location for three days of exploring. A calmer atmosphere awaits in the south, where you'll stay in a luxury tented camp in Thailand's jungle. You'll meet elephants, explore rivers, hike through the rainforest, and learn how to cook authentic Thai dishes.

Then swap the jungle for the beach with a week in the gorgeous Apsara Resort & Villa, with views over the Andaman Sea. There are national parks and islands within easy reach for tropical day trip to see just why Thailand's west coast is so loved.

    You'll depart London on a Thai Airways flight to Bangkok where you'll check into The Landmark hotel in the centre of the capital. It's a large, luxury hotel that's well-positioned in the city to get out and about exploring.

    Allow yourself to adjust to the new time zone today. The city's BTS Skytrain is opposite the hotel, making it easy for you to get around the city. The Landmark is conveniently on Sukhumvit Road, making explorations of the city's nightlife from the doorstep easy.

    A second full day in the city - will you head to the temples or to the markets? Your time in the city is yours to spend as you please. Tonight's your final night in Bangkok before you fly onwards tomorrow.

    You'll leave the cacophony of Bangkok behind today, taking a 90-minute flight to Phuket. Here, you'll be met by a transfer and take a 2.5-hour journey by road to Elephant Hills, where you'll spend the next three nights in a tented luxury camp.

    When you arrive, there's time for lunch before you board a cane on a jungle trip through the primary rainforest. You'll pass limestone mountains and cliffs, looking out for hornbills flying overhead. You'll moor on the riverbank at the elephant park, ready to meet Thai elephants and hear about Elephant Hills conservation work from the mahout, the elephant's caretaker. You'll feed the elephants before making your way back to camp.

    Tonight, there's a dance performance by local children and a cooking demonstration to learn how to make authentic Thai specialities. At 8pm, dinner is served beside the rainforest before guests retreat to their luxury tents for a first night under canvas.

    You'll wake to birdsong - or perhaps a whoop of a gibbon - and after breakfast, an adventurous day lies ahead. First, you'll explore the fig tree channel, boarding a speedboat to see these trees from the water. You'll switch boats, boarding a canoe to paddle through the mangrove channels. Then you'll board a Burmese Junk boat where lunch is served on board.

    After breakfast, you'll board a traditional longtail boat and travel across Cheow Larn Lake, surrounded by limestone cliffs and rainforest-clad cliffs that rise up from the shoreline. You'll arrive at Elephant Hills' Rainforest Camp, where there's the chance to explore under your own paddle power aboard a traditional canoe.

    You'll return to Elephant Hills for dinner and perhaps a visit to the jungle bar. Watch a movie, another local performance and a different cooking demonstration tonight.

    This morning, you'll explore the jungle on foot and see the enormous variety of flora, from striking orchids to tropical ferns and bamboo. A macaque or a leaf monkey may swing through the branches, and you're asked to tread carefully and listen to the wonderful sounds of the rainforest as you venture deeper.

    After a buffet lunch, a private transfer whisks you to the coast, around an hour or so away, where you'll spend the next week overlooking the Andaman Sea at the Apsara Beachfront Resort & Villa.

    Days at the Apsara Beachfront Resort & Villa are yours to spend as you please. There are three swimming pools, a choice of restaurants, and the opportunity to try surfing. When you're ready to get out and about, you could take a day trip to the Similan and Surin Islands, two nearby national parks, or visit the region's museums about the devastating tsunami.
