You'll see stunning views on this captivating five-day tour of the Swiss Alps and enjoy a holiday to remember. The trip begins the moment you set foot on the Eurostar in London, and you'll get to enjoy the changing landscape as you travel to Paris and onwards to Strasbourg and Basel before you arrive at Interlaken, a charming town which is your base for the trip. You will be staying in a comfortable four-star hotel with a panoramic restaurant, from which you can take in views of the majestic Jungfrau mountain.
Whether you visit in the spring, when the landscape is carpetted with wild flowers, or in autumn, when the vibrant colours contrast with the brilliant snow-capped peaks, you'll be impressed by this mountain stay.
During your trip, you'll spend a day on the famous Glacier Express when you can savour a three-course lunch as you travel past the mountains and the dramatic Oberalp pass. You'll also enjoy cruises on Lakes Lucerne and Thun, and pay a visit to Bern, the Swiss capital.
Journey from London to Paris by Eurostar, followed by an onward connection to join the high-speed train to Basel and onward train to Interlaken, Switzerland. Check in to the Hotel Metropole for a relaxing evening.
Today you'll take the Interlaken Express to Lucerne, where colourful pitched roof buildings perch on the edge of a blue lake, framed by a magnificent mountain range. After some free time to explore you'll take a cruise on the lake to Vitznau, after which you'll take a train to Rigi Kulm, where you can enjoy the view and have lunch.
Afterwards, you'll take the train to Rigi Kaltbad and enjoy a cable car ride to Weggis for panoramic views. You'll take the boat back to Lucerne and then the train back to Interlaken.
This morning you'll travel by rail to Chur and join the Glacier Express for a memorable journey along the broad valley before climbing through pasture and woodland. Enjoy a delicious three-course lunch on board as the train spirals its way towards the Oberalp Pass, the highest point of the route at 2,033 metres, before descending to the Rhône valley and stopping at Brig. You'll then continue by rail, returning to Interlaken in the early evening.
The capital of Switzerland, Bern, is your destination this morning. This charming city is perfectly preserved, with many fountains, facades, narrow streets and ancient towers. Traffic is kept out of the old town, so it's a delight to explore with the added beauty of the Aare river and surrounding mountains. In the afternoon you can enjoy dramatic scenery with a cruise on Lake Thun, whose deep blue waters are framed by quaint villages and historic castles, right up to the peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
Depart this morning, retracing your route to Paris where your Eurostar connection returns us to London.
